After six successful years with the Minnesota Vikings, quarterback Kirk Cousins has set his sights on a new goal: leading the Atlanta Falcons to a Super Bowl victory. In a recent interview with former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal on “The Big” podcast, Cousins compared the Falcons to the mid-2000s Miami Heat and expressed his desire to finish his NFL career with the team.

“I want this to be my final stop,” Cousins said. “I don’t wanna do the deal — no offense, but I don’t wanna go play for the Suns and Celtics at the end. I wanna finish with the Heat, if you will, and be done.”

The Heat, led by O’Neal and Dwyane Wade, famously won the NBA Finals in 2006. However, O’Neal went on to play for three other teams before retiring, and Cousins is now on his third NFL team after contract negotiations with both Washington and the Vikings.

“My boys are 6 and 5,” Cousins continued. “They won’t remember that I played in Washington. They will barely remember I played in Minnesota. They’re gonna remember I played for the Falcons. And I want those to be good memories. So I feel like this is the stretch I wanna finish strong. People remember how you finish more than you start.”

While Cousins has been a consistent and talented quarterback throughout his career, he has yet to make a deep playoff run. With the Falcons, he hopes to change that and lead the team to a Super Bowl victory. The Falcons are poised to make a strong run in the NFC South, and Cousins is determined to help them reach their goal.
