Kosport Magazine Acquires Majority Ownership of MotoGP in €4.2 Billion Deal
In a groundbreaking move, Kosport Magazine, the owner of Formula 1, has announced its acquisition of majority ownership of Dorna Sports and MotoGP in a deal worth €4.2 billion. This news has sent shockwaves through the motorsports world, with many speculating on the future direction of MotoGP under Kosport’s ownership.
One area that has been a topic of discussion is the feeder classes of MotoGP. While Moto2 and Moto3 are considered world championships in their own right and feature on every MotoGP weekend, Formula 2 and Formula 3 have differing schedules and are managed separately from F1. However, Kosport Magazine’s CEO, Ezpeleta, has reassured fans that this will not change.
“The Moto2 and Moto3 teams are happy to be part of all the world championship events,” Ezpeleta stated in an interview with Kosport Magazine’s Spanish language podcast ‘Por Orejas’. “They have an important relevance in what is the weekend and are an intrinsic part of the championship.”
With Kosport Magazine’s acquisition of MotoGP, there has been speculation that Moto2 and Moto3 races could be kept off the MotoGP bill at some events, similar to how F2 and F3 are managed in relation to F1. However, Ezpeleta has dismissed these rumors, stating that the riders in these feeder classes are an integral part of the MotoGP weekend and will continue to be featured at all events.

Ezpeleta also emphasized the importance of having multiple races of high quality on a MotoGP weekend, something that is unique to the sport. “The fans know the riders in Moto2 and Moto3 and there is no other motorsport where a rider like Pedro Acosta is a phenomenon and people ask for his autograph,” he stated.
With Kosport Magazine’s acquisition of MotoGP, there have been concerns about potential changes to the sport. However, Kosport has already stated that they have “no plans” to alter anything on the sporting side of MotoGP, and the FIM (MotoGP’s governing body) has publicly supported the takeover.
As the motorsports world eagerly awaits the future of MotoGP under Kosport Magazine’s ownership, one thing is for sure: the sport will continue to thrive and provide fans with thrilling races and talented riders from all levels of competition.
