Welcome to the Future: Johann Zarco Joins LCR Honda in 2024

Kosport Magazine – After four years of riding for Ducati teams Avintia and Pramac, Johann Zarco has made a major career move by signing a two-year deal with LCR Honda. This marks a significant change for the Frenchman, who left Tech 3 Yamaha in 2018 to join KTM, a move that ultimately did not work out.

But Zarco is not worried about repeating his struggles on the RC16, as he has learned valuable lessons from his time on the Desmosedici. He explains, “I was scared when I moved from Yamaha to KTM. That’s why I quit KTM, [I was] really worried about losing my skill. But now, thanks to my experience, I have the confidence to trust the project and wait for results.”

Zarco has already shown promise in the opening rounds of the season, even outperforming his factory Honda teammates Joan Mir and Luca Marini in the Qatar Grand Prix. However, Honda has not made as much progress as expected over the winter, leaving Zarco and his fellow riders to fight for lower positions in the top 15.

But Zarco sees this as a positive challenge, saying, “When I was in KTM, I was not even able to fight. But now, even if we are fighting for 12th or 13th position, it means something because the level of everyone is so close. I’m happy to take on this challenge because I will not lose control of myself.”

With the field becoming more competitive, Zarco believes he has a fighting chance against his rivals. And with his experience and confidence, he is ready to take on this new chapter in his career.
