Bastianini Makes Triumphant Return to Podium at Portuguese Grand Prix
The Algarve International Circuit was the stage for an exciting MotoGP race this past weekend, with factory Ducati rider Enea Bastianini taking a well-deserved second place finish. This marked his first podium since winning the Malaysian Grand Prix last year, and it was a momentous occasion for the Italian rider.
After securing his first pole position since the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix, Bastianini unfortunately couldn’t convert it into a win due to a mishap with his front start device. But he quickly made up for it in the race, proving to be a strong contender throughout.
“It has been very beautiful to be back on the podium today, especially after the disaster yesterday because I committed a big mistake at the start,” Bastianini said in an interview with Kosport Magazine. “But today has been different.”
He went on to praise the race leader, Jorge Martin, for his impressive performance and acknowledged that it was impossible for him to catch up to Maverick Vinales, who ultimately crashed out due to a gearbox issue.
