Quartararo considering his options as Yamaha future looms

2021 world champion, Fabio Quartararo, finds himself in the spotlight as his Yamaha contract comes to an end in 2024. The rider has confirmed that discussions with other manufacturers have taken place due to Yamaha’s recent struggles on the track.

The season started on a challenging note for Quartararo, finishing 11th in the Qatar Grand Prix. Despite this, he remains focused and undistracted by the ongoing contract negotiations.

During a recent interview at the Algarve International Circuit, Quartararo shared, “I’m not thinking about the contracts. It’s not a distraction for me. It’s information that I don’t have in my mind while I’m riding.”

While the future remains uncertain, Quartararo assures fans that a decision will be made promptly. “Exact date I don’t know, but I will not spend months to take a decision. So, it will be quite quick and we will see,” he stated.

Despite the setbacks, Quartararo remains positive about Yamaha’s progress in gathering data to enhance their performance. He acknowledges that the team is still in the testing phase but believes in their ability to make significant improvements.

Yamaha to intensify testing in quest for success

Following an underwhelming start to the 2024 season, Yamaha is determined to turn things around by conducting private tests after the Portugal GP. Quartararo’s feedback and the team’s collaborative efforts aim to refine the YZR-M1 for future races.

While Quartararo remains optimistic about the team’s direction, he acknowledges the gap to their competitors. However, he emphasizes the importance of incremental progress and teamwork in achieving their goals.

Stay tuned as Yamaha and Quartararo strive to overcome challenges and elevate their performance in the upcoming races.
