Ciryl Gane Responds to Claims of Ducking Contenders

Kosport Magazine – In the world of MMA, there is no shortage of trash talk and callouts. But when it comes to UFC heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane, he is not one to back down from a challenge. Recently, Gane’s name was brought up by interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, who claimed that Gane has been avoiding fights with him and other contenders in the division.

However, Gane quickly refuted these claims, stating that he never says no to any challenge or opponent. He even went as far as to say that he will see Aspinall in September, putting an end to any speculation of ducking.

This response from Gane comes after Aspinall made these claims on a recent episode of The MMA Hour. Aspinall also mentioned that he would love to get a rematch with Curtis Blaydes for his first title defense, but would also be open to facing Gane if the UFC offered the fight.

But Aspinall’s claims of Gane ducking him and other opponents are not new. Gane has been accused of turning down fights with Aspinall, Blaydes, and Sergei Pavlovich in the past. However, Gane has denied these accusations and has a record of never backing down from a challenge.

In 2023, Gane faced Jon Jones for the vacant heavyweight title at UFC 285, but was quickly submitted in the first round. He then bounced back with a dominant performance against Serghei Spivac at UFC Paris, where Aspinall was in attendance hoping for a fight with Gane.

But instead, Aspinall faced Pavlovich for the interim heavyweight title at UFC 295, where he emerged victorious in the first round. Aspinall’s win only added fuel to the fire of his claims that Gane has been avoiding him.

However, Gane’s response to Aspinall’s claims shows that he is not one to shy away from a challenge. And with the UFC’s return to the U.K. for a potential pay-per-view event this summer, a rematch between Aspinall and Blaydes could be on the cards.

But for now, Gane remains focused on his own path to the top of the heavyweight division. And with his record of never turning down a fight, it’s clear that Gane is not one to be underestimated.
