The Rock Returns to the Ring at WrestleMania 40
Kosport Magazine – The highly anticipated night one of WrestleMania 40 did not disappoint as The Rock made his return to the squared circle in Philadelphia. The Hollywood superstar, also known as Dwayne Johnson, teamed up with WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins in the tag team main event.
This victory has set the stage for Rhodes heading into night two, where he will challenge Reigns for the title under “Bloodline Rules” – meaning anything goes in the matchup.
But it wasn’t just the wrestling world that was buzzing about The Rock’s return. The UFC was also back in action at the APEX for UFC Vegas 90, where Brendan Allen defeated Chris Curtis in a wild main event via split decision. However, pro fighters from both past and present were also tuned in to WrestleMania, including former two-division world champion Daniel Cormier.
Cormier took to Twitter to express his excitement for The Rock’s return, reminiscing about his childhood memories of walking 10km just to watch an hour of wrestling through a window. He also praised The Rock for making wrestling cool again.
Other pro fighters, such as Bo Nickal, also showed their support for WrestleMania, with Nickal even stating that he hopes to step into the ring at some point in his career.
With night one of WrestleMania delivering such an electrifying performance, fans can’t wait to see what night two has in store. Will Rhodes be able to dethrone Reigns and become the new WWE Universal Champion? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure, The Rock’s return to the ring has brought a new level of excitement to the world of wrestling.
