Kosport Magazine: Grasso and Shevchenko Share Friendly Faceoff Ahead of NCAA Women’s Final Four
As the media rounds continue for Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko, the two top flyweights showed just how close they have become. The two will be starring as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 32, and their promotional tour brought them to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland to sit courtside for the NCAA Women’s Final Four tournament.
Grasso and Shevchenko were there to support basketball superstar Caitlin Clark as she leads her Iowa Hawkeyes against the Connecticut Huskies. But before the game, the two shared a friendly faceoff, showing the mutual respect and admiration they have for each other.
Kosport Magazine: Grasso Retains UFC Women’s Flyweight Title, Sets Up Trilogy Bout with Shevchenko
In March 2023, Grasso shocked the world by capturing the UFC women’s flyweight title with a fourth-round submission of Shevchenko. She then retained her belt in a controversial split draw at Noche UFC in September of the same year.
Shevchenko, who had been the long-reigning queen of the division, had a record-breaking seven consecutive title defenses before her stumble against Grasso. She had defeated top contenders such as Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Jessica Andrade, Liz Carmouche, and Taila Santos.
But with their close friendship and competitive rivalry, Grasso and Shevchenko are expected to face off in a trilogy bout later this year after the airing of TUF 32, which is set to kick off in June. Fans can’t wait to see these two top flyweights go head to head once again.
