Kape Out of UFC Vegas 91 Main Event Due to Rib Injury
Kosport Magazine – April 4, 2024
In a disappointing turn of events, Manel Kape has been forced to withdraw from his highly anticipated main event bout against Matheus Nicolau at UFC Vegas 91. The former RIZIN fighter suffered a rib injury that required surgery, pushing back his quest for a title shot in the UFC flyweight division.
Kape, who was originally scheduled to face Nicolau in January, had to pull out of the fight due to an illness that affected his weight cut. Despite this setback, he was determined to compete and the bout was rescheduled for April. However, the rib injury has now derailed those plans.
This is the first time Kape has ever pulled out of a fight, highlighting his dedication and toughness as a fighter. He took to Twitter to explain the situation, stating that all his previous cancelled fights were due to his opponents and not himself.
The disappointment is shared by fans and the UFC, as Kape was riding a four-fight win streak with two knockouts. His last performance at UFC 293 earned him a Fight of the Night bonus, showcasing his exciting fighting style.
The UFC has announced that Alex Perez, a one-time title challenger, will step in to face Nicolau in the main event. This is a great opportunity for Perez to make a statement in the flyweight division, but it’s a tough break for Kape who will have to wait a little longer to continue his climb towards a title shot.
Kape’s injury serves as a reminder of the physical toll that fighters endure in their pursuit of greatness. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back in the Octagon soon. Stay tuned to Kosport Magazine for updates on Kape’s return and all things MMA.
