Sean Strickland’s Mentality Shift After UFC 297 Loss
Sean Strickland has always been known for his outspoken personality and controversial comments, but since his title loss to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297 in January, he has had a noticeable shift in his mentality.
The middleweight fighter, also known as “Tarzan,” has been a consummate company man since returning to action in 2020. However, the time away from the octagon due to a near-death motorcycle accident in 2018 seems to have been a turning point for Strickland.
Before the accident, Strickland was a well-mannered and quiet welterweight prospect. But now, he has been open to fighting allcomers as a 185-pound contender and now-former champion. However, despite his willingness to take on any opponent, Strickland is maintaining his stance on what he wants next.
The split decision loss to Du Plessis is one that Strickland adamantly believes he should have won. And thanks to his outspoken personality, the 34-fight veteran (28-6) believes he is being silenced or phased out of the spotlight now that he no longer holds the title.
In a recent tweet, Strickland stated, “The UFC fans want me and Dricus to settle it. Dricus wants to settle it. We all know I fought in a dirty liberal country who f***** me. Dana [White] knows it. The UFC knows it.”
He followed up his comments by claiming that Canada, where the fight was held in Toronto, Ontario, attempted to cancel UFC 297’s main event. While Strickland’s media day appearance during that fight week proved controversial, it didn’t lead to any changes.
At the pre-fight press conference the day after, and on fight night, Strickland still received plenty of cheers from the Toronto faithful. But he remains convinced that there was a country bias against him, and that is why he lost the fight.
The country bias theory has been an interesting one throughout MMA history, but it is typically irrelevant regarding the biggest events in the sport. Veteran judges often travel from country to country and work these pivotal matchups, as was the case with Strickland vs. Du Plessis. Sal D’Amato, Eric Colon, and Derek Cleary, three of the most tenured judges in MMA, were assigned to the middleweight tilt.
Strickland has even mentioned the possibility of switching to boxing, but that won’t happen anytime soon unless he can get out of his UFC contract. And based on his suspicions alone, it seems highly unlikely that he will be able to do so.
In the end, Strickland signed off from his admitted complaint session in the only fashion he knows how, stating, “Alright y’all! I’m done b****ing! Thanks for rolling with me even when I’m acting like a woman venting! Hope you are at home with a hot woman, surrounded by guns and meat. If you don’t have either of those, settle on an ugly woman, but no compromise on the guns!”

Kosport Magazine Exclusive: Usman Nurmagomedov’s Highly Anticipated Fight Still Awaiting Contract and Terms from PFL
It’s the fight that MMA fans have been eagerly waiting for – the clash between Usman Nurmagomedov and an unnamed opponent in the Professional Fighters League (PFL). However, despite the excitement surrounding this potential matchup, it seems that the fight is still not a done deal.
According to sources close to the situation, the PFL is still in negotiations with Nurmagomedov’s team and is awaiting the finalization of contract terms before officially announcing the fight. While both parties are eager to make the fight happen, it seems that there are still some details that need to be ironed out before the contract can be signed.
But for fans of the undefeated Nurmagomedov, this news may come as a disappointment. The highly touted prospect has been making waves in the MMA world with his impressive performances and dominant victories. Many were hoping to see him in action again soon, and this potential fight in the PFL seemed like the perfect opportunity for him to showcase his skills on a bigger stage.
However, despite the delay in finalizing the contract, there is still hope that the fight will happen in the near future. Both Nurmagomedov and the PFL are committed to making this fight a reality, and negotiations are ongoing to ensure that it happens sooner rather than later.
John Kavanagh Questions Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: “I Don’t Think Someone Approaching 60 Needs to Be Fighting”
In a recent interview with Kosport Magazine, renowned MMA coach John Kavanagh shared his thoughts on the potential matchup between boxing legend Mike Tyson and YouTube star Jake Paul. While the fight has been generating a lot of buzz, Kavanagh believes that it may not be the best idea for Tyson to step back into the ring at his age.
“I have a lot of respect for Mike Tyson and what he’s accomplished in his career,” Kavanagh said. “But at this stage in his life, I don’t think it’s necessary for him to be fighting someone like Jake Paul. He’s approaching 60 years old and has nothing left to prove in the ring.”
Kavanagh went on to say that he believes Tyson should focus on other ventures and leave the fighting to the younger generation. “There are plenty of other ways for him to stay involved in the sport without putting his health at risk,” he added.
Vince McMahon Unloads Another $100 Million of TKO Group Holdings Stock
In a surprising move, WWE CEO Vince McMahon has reportedly sold another $100 million worth of stock in TKO Group Holdings. This comes just months after McMahon sold $100 million worth of stock in the company, leading many to speculate about his future plans.
While some believe that McMahon may be looking to step away from the company, others believe that this move may be a strategic one to help the company weather the financial impact of the pandemic. Whatever the reason may be, it’s clear that McMahon is making some big moves behind the scenes.
Prospect Payton Talbott Rejects Sean O’Malley Comparisons After UFC Vegas 89
After his impressive performance at UFC Vegas 89, many have been drawing comparisons between Payton Talbott and UFC star Sean O’Malley. However, Talbott is not interested in being compared to anyone else and wants to make a name for himself on his own terms.
“I appreciate the comparisons, but I don’t want to be known as the next Sean O’Malley,” Talbott said in a recent interview with Kosport Magazine. “I want to be known as Payton Talbott and make my own mark in this sport.”
Talbott’s rejection of the comparisons shows his determination to carve out his own path in the MMA world and not be defined by anyone else’s success.
Renato Moicano Fires Back at Paddy Pimblett Callout: “He’s a Free Paycheck”
After Paddy Pimblett called him out on social media, Renato Moicano wasted no time in responding to the British fighter’s challenge. In a scathing statement, Moicano dismissed Pimblett’s callout and labeled him as a “free paycheck.”
“I have no interest in fighting someone like Paddy Pimblett,” Moicano said. “He’s a free paycheck for me. I’m looking for bigger challenges and Pimblett is not one of them.”
Moicano’s comments show his confidence and belief in his abilities, and it’s clear that he has no intention of taking on a lesser opponent like Pimblett.
