Two Big Names Join the UFC in 2024
It’s official – two big names have made their way to the UFC in 2024. Michael “Venom” Page and Kayla Harrison have both signed with the UFC, making the already stacked roster even more exciting.
Page, who spent nine years with Bellator, made his promotional debut at UFC 299 earlier this month, where he impressively defeated Kevin Holland. This was Page’s first fight in almost a year, and he showed no signs of rust as he delivered a surgical performance. And while he may have felt like he wasn’t at his best, he still managed to put on a show for the fans with his entertaining WWE-inspired entrance.
Meanwhile, Harrison, a former two-time PFL champion, will make her debut at UFC 300 next month against Holly Holm. And according to UFC CEO Dana White, the difference between fighting in the UFC and any other organization is incomparable.
“When you get to the UFC – you just saw it with ‘MVP’ – you’re gonna see it with Kayla Harrison, and so many others that have come from other organizations, and they get here,” White said in an interview with Kosport Magazine. “They notice immediately the difference between fighting here and fighting wherever they were before. It’s not even comparable to the impact it has on you when you leave whatever organization you’re with, and you come to the UFC.”
The Impact of Fighting in the UFC
White’s words ring true for both Page and Harrison, who have already experienced the difference in fighting for the UFC. Page, who participated in a pre-fight press conference for the first time in his career, was blown away by the energy and atmosphere.
“I think that it gives them a sense of, ‘Holy s***. I can really-‘ I mean, ‘MVP,’ when he came, there were probably more people at the press conference than any fight he’d ever fought in at Bellator, you know what I mean?” White said. “You feel that energy, and you feel the difference in the impact of being here, and I think it takes a lot of these guys to another level.”

In other news, Brandon Moreno has announced a hiatus from MMA, citing that he has reached a limit in his mind. The NAC has also withheld Igor Severino’s purse after he bit his opponent at UFC Vegas 89. And Sean O’Malley has announced that his next title defense will be against Merab Dvalishvili.
Additionally, Rose Namajunas has opened up about the surreal nightmares that plagued her before her win at UFC Vegas 89, and Dustin Poirier has responded to Islam Makhachev, stating that he has accomplished more in MMA than Makhachev has.
