Karl Williams ready to return to the Octagon after DIY mishap

LAS VEGAS – Karl Williams is finally set to make ‌his return to the UFC after a period on the sidelines due to a self-inflicted injury while attempting⁤ some home improvements.

Williams, who​ holds ⁣a 9-1 MMA ‍record with a 2-0 UFC standing, is slated to face Justin Tafa in the heavyweight co-main event at UFC on ESPN 53 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. ‌Originally scheduled to fight Junior ⁣Tafa, Justin stepped in after his ⁤brother had to withdraw due to ‍an injury.

A recent surgery setback delayed Williams’ return to⁢ action⁢ as he ​took on various home improvement projects post-surgery, which ⁢led to complications.

In a recent interview, Williams shared, “I did a lot of stuff I wasn’t supposed to do after the ⁣surgery. I ​went and‌ built a fence, re-did my bathroom, re-did my closet‌ –‍ which ended up making me have to take ‍longer time off because I⁢ ended up re-messing ‍up⁢ my surgery ⁣because​ of ⁢that.”

The time off gave Williams a new perspective ⁣on ‌his career, making him appreciate the‍ opportunity to⁢ compete in the ‌Octagon once again.

Now focused solely on his upcoming ⁣fight, Williams joked, “I did a very good fence. ‍If anybody needs a fence built, I’ve got you.”
