Krzysztof Glowacki Steps Away from Boxing to Pursue MMA

Former two-time WBO cruiserweight titlist Krzysztof Glowacki has made the decision to take a break from boxing, but he hasn’t completely closed the door on his fighting career. With a record of 32-4 and 20 knockouts, Glowacki expressed to The Ring that he may consider returning for a fight if it’s an intriguing opportunity.

After his fight against Richard Riakporhe, Glowacki realized that the world title may not be within his reach anymore, and he doesn’t want to face subpar opponents just to stay active in the sport. Instead, the 36-year-old Polish fighter is shifting his focus to a new challenge in MMA.

“I have some other sport plans. I started training MMA and this is my new challenge,” Glowacki revealed. “I enjoy MMA training a lot, it’s something new and inspiring for me. My next fight will be in MMA.”

Despite stepping away from boxing, Glowacki leaves behind a successful career. He began his professional journey in Poland, winning his first 24 fights. His breakthrough moment came when he traveled to the US as an underdog and defeated Marco Huck to claim the WBO title.

Throughout his career, Glowacki faced tough opponents like Steve Cunningham and Oleksandr Usyk, showcasing his resilience and determination. He also participated in the World Boxing Super Series, capturing the WBO interim title before a controversial loss to Mairis Briedis.

Reflecting on his career, Glowacki highlighted his memorable bout against Maxim Vlasov in the WBSS as one of his best performances. However, his victory over Huck, where he staged a remarkable comeback in the 11th round, remains a standout moment in his boxing journey.

Andrew Wasileski, Glowacki’s long-time promoter, commended the fighter for his accomplishments in the ring, emphasizing his fighting spirit and courage. Despite battling injuries in recent years, Glowacki’s legacy in Polish boxing is secure.

Conclusion

Krzysztof Glowacki’s decision to explore MMA marks a new chapter in his athletic career. While bidding farewell to boxing, he leaves behind a legacy of resilience, determination, and memorable victories that have solidified his place in the sport’s history.
