Boehly: Chelsea still turning stars ‘into a team’

Chelsea Owner Pleads for Patience as Team Struggles to Find Form

Kosport Magazine – Apr 2, 2024

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has faced criticism from fans as his team continues to struggle in the Premier League. However, he is asking for patience as the squad learns to work together and improve their performance.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Boehly acknowledged the frustration of fans but emphasized the importance of giving the team time to develop into a cohesive unit. “We just need to let the process develop and give them [the team] the time to go from being unbelievable individual players with great skills to fold into a team,” he said.

Boehly’s comments come after a letter from the Chelsea Supporter’s Trust in March, which criticized the ownership group and called the club a “laughing stock.” However, Boehly remains committed to his vision for the team and asks for fans to stay the course.

“The good news is people care so much. And the bad news is people care so much. That leads to times when they’re frustrated with the team and the owners. I get that, but we just have to continue to stay the course,” he said.

Since taking over the club in 2022, Boehly has spent over £1 billion on transfers. However, fans are still unhappy with a range of issues, including a lack of communication from the owners and rising ticket prices.

Despite the criticism, Chelsea still has a chance for success this season with an upcoming FA Cup semifinal against Manchester City. The team’s performance in this match could determine the success of their season.

As the owner of Chelsea, Boehly understands the pressure and expectations that come with owning a top football club. But he remains confident in his team and asks for patience and support from the fans as they work towards their goals.
