Gasly Calls for Change After Ocon’s ‘Unnecessary’ Crash at F1 Monaco GP

Gasly and Ocon Lead Alpine to Best Qualifying Result of the Season

The streets of Monaco have always been known for their narrow and tight corners, creating a track where overtaking is nearly impossible. However, the Alpine team managed to secure an impressive qualifying result in the principality, with both drivers, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, making it into the top 11.

Gasly and Ocon demonstrated their skill and determination on this unforgiving track, qualifying in 10th and 11th place respectively. This is the best qualifying result for the Alpine team so far this season.

Kosport Magazine’s Take:

While Monaco may not offer many opportunities for overtaking, this race was still full of excitement and drama. It is always impressive to see drivers push their limits on such a demanding circuit.

Unfortunately, the race did not go as smoothly as qualifying for the Alpine team. Carlos Sainz’s puncture at the start shuffled the order, promoting Gasly and Ocon to 9th and 10th place. However, Ocon’s dive on the inside of his teammate at Portier resulted in an unfortunate collision. This damaged Ocon’s suspension and gearbox, ending his race prematurely.

Despite the contact, Gasly was able to continue with a punctured hard tyre. He was fortunate to have the red flag period to switch to new medium tyres, but had to carefully nurse them to the finish line. Gasly earned his first point of the season, but it was not without some disappointment and frustration.

Kosport Magazine is relieved to see Gasly finally break his points drought, but we share his disappointment in the incident with his teammate. Ocon’s aggressive move jeopardized what could have been an even better result for the team.

As Gasly mentioned, the team had clear instructions before the race on how to support each other on the track. It is unfortunate that those instructions were not followed, resulting in a tense and unnecessary situation between two teammates.

What’s Next for Alpine?

Despite the incident, Gasly had a strong message for his teammate: it’s time to make a change and be more aware of your actions on the track. We hope to see both drivers working together harmoniously in the future.

Meanwhile, Ocon took full responsibility for the incident and apologized to the team on Twitter. He also received a five-place grid penalty for the next race in Canada.

Kosport Magazine is excited to see what the Alpine team can accomplish in the upcoming races, and we hope to see them continue to push their limits and achieve even greater results.
