Ferrari to Unveil Special Livery for Miami Grand Prix

Kosport Magazine – The Scuderia is gearing up for the highly anticipated Miami Grand Prix with a special one-off livery that pays homage to the manufacturer’s rich history in the American motorsport scene. The team will be bringing back two shades of blue from their past – Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino – in a contemporary and stylish manner.

The decision to change up their traditional red livery is in celebration of Ferrari’s 70th anniversary in the American marketplace. This move is reminiscent of their breakthrough in 1964, when they debuted a white and blue livery for the final two races of the season.

Azzurro La Plata, a light shade of blue, holds significance as the national racing color of Argentina and was also worn by two-time champion Alberto Ascari. The Italian driver was often seen sporting a jersey and matching helmet in this color. The 1960s also saw Ferrari drivers like John Surtees, Chris Amon, and Niki Lauda donning blue racing overalls.

On the other hand, Azzurro Dino is a darker shade that was last used in 1974 by Clay Regazzoni before the iconic red became the standard for Ferrari race suits.

To add to the excitement, the special livery will be revealed in Florida, although an official date has not been announced yet. Fans can expect a grand unveiling as part of the events leading up to the Miami Grand Prix, with a parade of Ferrari cars, including a pair of blue 296 GTSs, set to take to the track.

This is not the first time Ferrari has switched up their livery for a special occasion. Last year, they ran a yellow livery at the Italian Grand Prix to pay tribute to their Le Mans 24 Hours winning 499P. They also sported a burgundy look at the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix to celebrate their 1000th race.

With the Miami Grand Prix just around the corner, fans can’t wait to see the iconic red cars take on the track in a whole new look. Stay tuned for the official reveal of the special livery by Ferrari at the upcoming race.
