Acosta “cannot expect anything” despite rookie MotoGP podium breakthrough

Pedro Acosta Makes Headlines with Impressive Ride at Algarve International Circuit

At just 19 years old, Tech3 rider Pedro Acosta continues to turn heads in the MotoGP world. In Sunday’s grand prix at the Algarve International Circuit, Acosta started from seventh on the grid and quickly made his way through the pack.

He first overtook his factory KTM counterparts, Jack Miller and Brad Binder, before setting his sights on bigger names like Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia. In the closing stages of the race, Acosta found himself in fourth place.

But luck was on his side as Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales suffered a suspected gearbox issue on the final lap and crashed, gifting Acosta his first MotoGP podium in just his second round.

Despite the hype surrounding him, Acosta remains humble and downplays expectations for future races. “This is only the beginning,” he says. “We have to have our foot on the ground and understand that this was a really nice weekend, but maybe in America it’s going to be tough or maybe in Jerez.”

Acosta also credits his team for managing the bike and his head, keeping him calm and focused throughout the race. And it paid off as he crossed the finish line in third place.

But it wasn’t without some nerves. Acosta admits that the final lap was his slowest as he suddenly realized he was in a podium position. “The team showed me one message on the [pit] board, it was like ‘calm’,” he says. “And I said, ‘ok, four seconds behind, now we will try to be calm and not make any mess and get back with the bike to the box’.”

As for his future in MotoGP, Acosta remains level-headed. “We cannot expect anything because it’s quite soon but very happy with how the guys are managing the bike and managing my head,” he says.

Acosta Remains Humble Despite Impressive Performance

While Pedro Acosta’s performance at the Algarve International Circuit has made headlines, the 19-year-old remains grounded and focused on the long season ahead. With his first MotoGP podium under his belt, Acosta knows that there is still a long way to go and that every race will be a challenge.

But with a strong team behind him and a level head on his shoulders, Acosta is ready to take on whatever comes his way. And as he continues to make a name for himself in the MotoGP world, fans can’t help but wonder what the future holds for this young and talented rider.
