Kosport Magazine Reveals NFL’s Top Quarterbacks for the 2023 Season
C.J. Stroud, writer for Kosport Magazine, has made waves with his recent list of the NFL’s top-five quarterbacks for the 2023 season. While there have been some changes since his initial announcement, one thing has remained consistent: Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback, Dak Prescott, has secured a spot on Stroud’s list.
In his original list, Stroud ranked Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, himself (Stroud), Prescott, and Jalen Hurts as the top quarterbacks in the NFL. However, in his updated list posted on his Instagram account, Stroud switched things up and included Josh Allen in the fourth spot. He also moved Prescott down to fifth and excluded Hurts. Stroud also added that he believes Joe Burrow belongs in the top five, despite his injury during the 2023 season.
Stroud received some criticism for including Prescott on his list, but he stands by his decision, saying “Dak’s that boy.” While Prescott’s career has been polarizing so far, he has shown great potential as a rookie, leading the Cowboys to a 13-3 record and earning Pro Bowl and Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. He faced some struggles in 2017 due to running back Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension, but bounced back in 2018 and helped lead the Cowboys to their third playoff win since their last Super Bowl victory.
During his first season with new head coach Mike McCarthy, Prescott put up impressive numbers and earned a career-high 37 touchdowns. Though his production slightly dipped in 2022, he still led the Cowboys to the playoffs for the third time in six years. In the 2023 season, Prescott continued to excel and earned a career-high 15 interceptions. However, his and the team’s struggles were highlighted in their loss to the 49ers in the playoffs.
Despite some critics pointing to the Cowboys’ lack of playoff success under Prescott, Stroud stands by his belief that Prescott is one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the league. And while his supporters, including Stroud, may continually have to defend him, Prescott will have an opportunity to prove himself when the Cowboys take on the Texans in Week 11.
