The Eagles’ Draft Picks
The Eagles have a total of seven picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, including two in the fifth round. Here is a breakdown of each pick and our expert analysis on each selection.
Round 1 (No. 22 overall): Quinyon Mitchell, Toledo
With their first pick in the draft, the Eagles selected cornerback Quinyon Mitchell out of Toledo. Mitchell was the first cornerback taken in the draft and brings a wealth of experience and athleticism to the Eagles’ secondary.
During his time at Toledo, Mitchell set school records for passes defended in a season (25) and career (52). He is a Day 1 starter in the NFL and will provide a much-needed boost to the Eagles’ defense.

The Eagles traded up to the 40th pick to select versatile defensive back Cooper DeJean out of Iowa. DeJean can play multiple positions in the secondary and will provide depth and playmaking ability to the Eagles’ defense.
With the Eagles already addressing their need at cornerback in the first round, DeJean adds another dimension to their secondary and will have a major role in the defense in 2024.

Round 3 (No. 94 overall): Jalyx Hunt, Houston Christian
In the third round, the Eagles traded back twice before selecting edge rusher Jalyx Hunt out of Houston Christian. Hunt is a former safety who brings a unique skill set to the Eagles’ pass rush.
While he may need some time to develop, Hunt has the potential to be a dominant force on the edge and will learn from the likes of Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, and Nolan Smith.

Round 4 (No. 127 overall): Will Shipley, Clemson
With their fourth-round pick, the Eagles added depth to their running back group by selecting Will Shipley out of Clemson. Shipley is a former five-star recruit and brings a versatile skill set to the Eagles’ offense.
He excels in the screen game and is also a threat as a kick returner. Shipley will provide a change of pace behind star running back Saquon Barkley.

Round 5 (No. 152 overall): Ainias Smith, Texas A&M
Listed as a wide receiver, Ainias Smith out of Texas A&M is more of a “gadget” player who can be used in a variety of ways on offense. He is also an excellent returner and will add depth to the Eagles’ receiving corps.
While he may need some time to develop as a route-runner, Smith brings a dynamic playmaking ability to the Eagles’ offense.

Round 5 (No. 155 overall): Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Clemson
In a sentimental pick, the Eagles selected linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. out of Clemson. The son of Eagles legend Jeremiah Trotter, Jr. brings a similar playing style to his father and will be a fan favorite in Philadelphia.
While he may have limitations in coverage, Trotter Jr. has the potential to be a key contributor on defense and will continue his father’s legacy in Philadelphia.
