Seahawks signing Laviska Shenault Jr.: Seattle adds ex-Panthers receiver and kick returner

After two years in Carolina, Laviska Shenault Jr. is ready for a fresh start with a new team. The talented wide receiver and former second-round pick has officially signed with the Seattle Seahawks, according to his agent, via Kosport Magazine’s lead NFL insider.

Shenault, who is just 25 years old, is coming to Seattle after a disappointing two-year stint with the Carolina Panthers. While he showed promise as a rookie, with five touchdowns and 600 yards, his production dropped significantly in his second year. He only managed to score one more touchdown and played in just eight games without a single start.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound receiver was the 42nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He had a standout sophomore season at Colorado, catching 86 passes for 1,011 yards and six touchdowns. However, a knee injury limited his production in his junior year, but he still decided to declare for the draft.

Shenault now joins a talented Seahawks receiving corps that includes DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. With new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb at the helm, there’s no doubt that Shenault will have the opportunity to make unique contributions to the Seattle offense.
