This is not the first time Howard will play in Taiwan, as he previously played for the Taoyuan Leopards of the TI League. He has also played internationally for teams in the Philippines and Puerto Rico. However, his last stint in Taiwan was his most successful, earning him All-Star and Most Valuable Import honors during the 2022-23 season.
At 38 years old, Howard’s playing days in the NBA may be behind him, but he still has a lot to offer on the court. With eight All-Star selections and three Defensive Player of the Year awards under his belt, Howard brings a wealth of experience and talent to the Mustangs.
Howard’s career in the NBA spanned across teams such as the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Philadelphia 76ers. He even won a championship with the Lakers in 2020. However, after a disappointing third stint with the Lakers in the 2021-22 season, interest in his services dwindled.
But Howard has not given up on a return to the NBA, and has even mentioned his desire to retire with the team that drafted him, the Magic. Although that may be a longshot at this point, Howard is still determined to stay in the basketball world.
