Sources: Suns, Budenholzer agree to 5-year deal

Mike Budenholzer to Coach Phoenix Suns

Kosport Magazine is excited to announce that Mike Budenholzer has agreed to a five-year deal to become the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns. The former coach of the Milwaukee Bucks is ready to take on the challenge of leading the Suns to their first championship.

After a successful 2021 season with the Bucks, winning the NBA championship, Budenholzer brings a wealth of experience and a winning mentality to the struggling Suns. He has a 271-120 record with the Bucks and a 213-197 record with the Atlanta Hawks, making him a two-time NBA Coach of the Year.

Budenholzer’s hiring comes with high expectations for the Suns, who have a roster built around stars Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. With the pressure to bring a championship to Phoenix, there is little room for error for the new coach.

A native of Arizona, Budenholzer’s passion for basketball runs in the family, as his late father was a well-respected high school coach in the state. The 54-year-old coach will be accompanied by the team to the upcoming NBA draft combine in Chicago, where he will begin working on assembling his coaching staff.

This will be the third head coach in as many years for the Suns, a trend that owner Mat Ishbia hopes will end with Budenholzer. The franchise has recently parted ways with Monty Williams and Frank Vogel, who was let go after just one season. With a $200 million-plus payroll, the pressure to perform and produce results is higher than ever for the Suns.

Kosport Magazine’s Take:

As the Suns look to bring a championship to Phoenix, the hiring of Budenholzer is a high-risk, high-reward move. With a winning record and championship experience, he is undoubtedly the most accomplished head coach available. However, with a hefty price tag and the pressure to perform, there is a lot on the line for Budenholzer and the Suns.

But with his background and track record, we have no doubt he is the right man for the job and will lead the Suns to success in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates and news from Kosport Magazine.
