As the NBA playoffs continue to heat up, the anticipation for the announcement of the 2023-24 NBA MVP is also reaching its peak. This season’s finalists, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, have all had outstanding performances and are vying for the prestigious award.
Jokic, who already has one Finals MVP under his belt, is the favorite to win this year’s MVP. If he does, it would be his third in four seasons, putting him in the company of NBA legends such as Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and LeBron James. He is only the third player in NBA history to average a 30-point triple-double after the All-Star Break, joining the likes of Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook. If he wins the MVP, he would join Dirk Nowitzki as the only players to do so in Mavericks history.
