Kosport Magazine – Apr 19, 2024

In a surprising turn of events, four-star senior Justin Pippen has announced his commitment to the University of Michigan. The son of Pro Basketball Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, Justin has chosen to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Wolverines.

At 6-foot-3, Justin is a versatile combo guard who has shown tremendous improvement in his high school career. He has worked tirelessly on his shooting, ballhandling, and decision-making, making him one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation.

His decision to commit to Michigan was not an easy one, as he had a final list of schools that included Cal, Florida, Stanford, and Texas A&M. However, after a Zoom call with new head coach Dusty May and a visit to the campus, Justin knew that Michigan was the right fit for him.

“I like the feel of the campus and school,” Justin told Kosport Magazine. “I wanted to be at a big school. They can help me reach my end goal of making the NBA.”

May, who was hired as Juwan Howard’s replacement, has been instrumental in Justin’s recruitment. He sees Justin as a key piece in the Wolverines’ future and has promised to help him reach his full potential.

“I was really going to make a decision between my other schools,” Justin said. “Then I got a call from Coach Dusty May. I wanted to give him a chance. We set up a Zoom call. I went on a visit and I felt it was the right place and situation for me.”

Justin’s family fully supports his decision to attend Michigan, with both his parents speaking to Coach May and giving their blessing. They know that Michigan is not only a great basketball program, but also a top academic institution.

Pippen is the first recruit to commit to Michigan since May’s arrival, but the Wolverines are also pursuing a number of transfers, including Florida Atlantic’s Johnell Davis and Vladislav Goldin, Ohio State’s Roddy Gayle Jr., Auburn’s Tre Donaldson, and Yale’s Danny Wolf.

With Justin’s commitment, Michigan is well on its way to building a strong and talented team for the future. Keep an eye out for Justin Pippen as he continues to make a name for himself in the world of college basketball.
