UFC fighter leaps out of the octagon to plead with Dana White after fight is stopped over gruesome cut

Bantamweights Mayra Bueno Silva and Macy Chiasson were kept from an exciting showdown by a doctor’s stoppage on Saturday night.

The Brazilian was deeply upset when referee Chris Tognoni stepped in to allow a doctor to take a look at a fairly sizeable cut she had suffered in the second round of their fight. The nature of the cut was such that the bout was called, which left her enraged.

She first attempted to run past commission officials and have the fight restarted, before the fight was officially stopped. And before the situation could be calmed down, she was out of the octagon and pleading with UFC boss Dana White himself.

Macy Chiasson beats Mayra Bueno Silva after cut deemed to deep to continue

After losing her effort at UFC gold against Raquel Pennington in January and failing a drug test following her win over Holly Holm, Mayra Bueno Silva had a lot to prove at UFC 303. She faced a stern test in The Ultimate Fighter 28 winner Chiasson, and struggled in the first to make her mark.

The Louisiana native was coming off the back of a Performance Of The Night bonus-winning result against Pannie Kianzad in March that gave her space to make a quick return to action. And she again looked strong against Silva, arguably landing the bigger shots early.

But when she found herself on top in the second, one vicious elbow opened up a gruesome cut. Bueno Silva could tell the severity of the injury and attempted to evade commission officials in an effort to continue to fight.

However, they were too clever for her tricks and were able to fully examine just how severe the injury was. They called for the fight to be immediately called off with Chiasson declared the TKO winner, which led the Brazilian to leap out of the cage and confront CEO White directly.

Her boss was sitting with Endeavour owner Ari Emmanuel, and reportedly ‘bled all over’ the pair, much to his annoyance.

Asked what Mayra Bueno Silva was saying to him in the moment, White told media after the event: “She was spraying blood all over me and Ari Emmanuel. I had blood on my face, on my head, on my suit, in my mouth.

“She said ‘can I jump out of the octagon?’ And I f***ed up and said ‘yes’. I should have told her I’d talk to her in a little while. But you know what she was saying, she’s tough and she was like ‘this is bulls***, shouldn’t have stopped this fight.

“And I said ‘no, this was a good stoppage, you have a nasty cut on your forehead and you’re bleeding all over us.”
