Cedric Doumbe re-signs with PFL, set to face Derek Anderson at Bellator Paris
Kosport Magazine – Cedric Doumbe, the French superstar and former kickboxing champion, has officially signed a multi-fight, multi-year extension with the Professional Fighters League (PFL). This comes after only two fights with the promotion, solidifying Doumbe’s commitment to the organization.
In addition to his new contract, Doumbe has his next fight already set. He will be facing veteran competitor Derek Anderson at the upcoming Bellator Paris event on May 17th. This highly anticipated event will be held at the Accor Arena and will be broadcast live on Max in the United States.
PFL CEO Peter Murray expressed his excitement for Doumbe’s new deal and upcoming fight, stating, “Re-signing Cedric Doumbe to a multi-year contract extension has been one of our highest priorities since he joined the promotion last year. Cedric is a large part of our continued growth in France, and now he will compete at Bellator Champions Series Paris on a fight card that can be streamed by fans in the U.S. on Max, as he continues his trajectory through our global leagues.”
After a successful career as the GLORY welterweight champion, Doumbe made the full-time switch to MMA in 2021. He made his PFL debut in impressive fashion with a nine-second knockout in September of last year. However, his second appearance did not go as planned as he suffered a toe injury in the third round, resulting in a loss to Baissangour Chamsoudinov.
But instead of rebooking that fight, PFL officials have decided to give Doumbe a new opponent in Derek Anderson. Anderson, who holds a record of 17-4 with one no contest, is a former Bellator fighter and has not competed in nearly three years. His last fight was against Michael “Venom” Page in 2018.
The main event of Bellator Paris will feature bantamweight champion Patchy Mix defending his title against Magomed Magomedov. With the addition of Doumbe vs. Anderson, this event is shaping up to be an exciting night of fights.
