Aspinall? Ankalaev? Alex Pereira discusses options for next move after UFC 300

Alex Pereira: The UFC’s Newest Knockout Artist

Alex Pereira is quickly making a name for himself in the UFC as one of the most exciting and dominant fighters in the light heavyweight division. With a record-breaking victory at UFC 300, Pereira has solidified himself as a force to be reckoned with in the octagon.

In an exclusive interview with Kosport Magazine, Pereira discussed his recent win and his plans for the future. When asked about his next opponent, Pereira stated that he has no rush to call out a specific name, date, or location. He is simply focused on continuing to improve and break records.

Pereira’s recent victory over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 was the second-fastest of his MMA career. When asked about his options for his next fight, Pereira stated, “It’s hard to answer that. I haven’t thought too much about it yet.” He went on to explain that he would prefer to defend his belt next, but if it takes too long, he is open to testing the waters at heavyweight.

However, Pereira’s plans for a potential heavyweight fight were put on hold when he suffered two broken toes during his victory over Hill. He explained that he doesn’t want to hold up the light heavyweight division and would rather defend his belt sooner rather than later.

UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall recently announced that he will be defending his belt at the upcoming UFC show in Manchester. Pereira gave Aspinall credit for posting a picture of him watching Pereira’s fight at UFC 300, stating that it was a smart move for social media engagement. When asked about potentially challenging Aspinall for a third belt, Pereira stated that it is up to UFC to make the call.

Pereira also sees Magomed Ankalaev as a viable option for his second light heavyweight title defense, but he isn’t interested in obliging Ankalaev’s call to meet on the October pay-per-view in Abu Dhabi. Pereira expects to be medically cleared to train in early May and would prefer to fight sooner rather than later.

When asked about Ankalaev trying to call the shots, Pereira stated, “This guy is complicated.” He went on to explain that he is open to fighting whoever, but he wants to do what is best for his career and his team.

If UFC decides to wait until the end of the year before booking Pereira’s next fight, he would much rather compete in November and be featured on the promotion’s Madison Square Garden pay-per-view. Pereira has a perfect record at Madison Square Garden, with two title-winning knockouts in pay-per-view headliners.

With his explosive fighting style and impressive record, Alex Pereira is quickly becoming one of the UFC’s most exciting and talked-about fighters. Fans can’t wait to see what he will do next as he continues to make his mark in the octagon.
