Norma Dumont Makes Weight for Bantamweight Debut, Eyes Top Contenders at UFC Vegas 90

Kosport Magazine – 02/12/2024

Norma Dumont has made a statement in the UFC featherweight division, but now she’s ready to make an even bigger impact in the bantamweight division.

After successfully making weight for her bantamweight debut at UFC Vegas 90, Dumont is setting her sights on top contenders and a potential title shot.

Dumont’s journey to bantamweight has been a long and challenging one. After struggling to make weight early in her UFC career, she moved up to featherweight and found success, winning five out of six fights. But with the dissolution of the featherweight division, Dumont was determined to cut back down to 135 pounds.

And now, with the opportunity to face former bantamweight champion Germaine de Randamie at UFC Vegas 90, Dumont is ready to prove herself as a top contender in the division.

In an interview with Kosport Magazine, Dumont expressed her frustration with other bantamweight contenders who refused to fight her at featherweight. But now, with her successful weight cut, she hopes that the UFC will continue to give her key matchups.

However, Dumont knows that her journey to the top won’t be easy. She expects to face even more challenges and obstacles as she climbs the bantamweight rankings. But she’s determined to prove herself and earn a shot at the title.

A win over de Randamie at UFC Vegas 90 would put Dumont on a four-fight winning streak and make her a “high-risk, low-reward” matchup for top bantamweights. But she’s not backing down from the challenge.

Dumont even has her sights set on current bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington. She believes that a win over de Randamie will put her in a position to challenge for the title, and she’s not afraid to call out Pennington.

“I want to fight for the title,” Dumont said. “Pennington has the belt and she’s tough, but she intimidates absolutely nobody. Any top-five [contender] can beat her. She’s not like Amanda [Nunes], who was a tougher fight, so everybody wants to put their hands on this title shot as soon as possible.”

Dumont is confident in her abilities and believes that she can defeat any top contender in the bantamweight division. And with her determination and drive, she’s ready to take on any challenge that comes her way.

So, as she prepares to face de Randamie at UFC Vegas 90, Dumont has her sights set on the top of the bantamweight division. And she’s not backing down until she gets there.
