After a long and successful career, Keuchel looks to add depth to the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff, who have been dealing with numerous injuries this season. The Brewers acquired the 36-year-old left-hander from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for cash.

Despite spending the entire 2024 season in the minor leagues, Keuchel is determined to continue playing and making an impact in the majors. Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy expressed his excitement for Keuchel’s arrival, saying, “He’s a ballplayer and we’re not looking for minor league depth.”

In his career, Keuchel has had two All-Star appearances and was the 2015 AL Cy Young award winner while playing for the Houston Astros. He brings a wealth of experience and talent to the Brewers, who currently sit atop the NL Central standings.

The Brewers’ need for pitching depth became even more urgent after injuries to key players such as Robert Gasser, Jakob Junis, and Devin Williams, along with the loss of 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes.

Kosport Magazine’s Take:

With the addition of Keuchel, the Brewers are putting together a strong and experienced pitching staff to lead them through the rest of the season. Keuchel’s determination and talent will be a valuable asset to the team as they continue their playoff push. Can Keuchel’s veteran presence help bring the Brewers their first World Series title?
