Topps Series 2 Releases New Cards Featuring ‘Signature Tunes’
For decades, baseball cards have captured the hearts of fans young and old. The thrill of getting your hands on a highly coveted card of your favorite player, or completing a set, is unmatched in the world of sports collectibles. And now, Topps Series 2 is taking it to the next level with their latest release.
The newest edition of Topps Series 2 features an exciting mix of game-used relics and dual-autographed cards, appropriately titled ’Signature Tunes’. These cards pair MLB stars with the musical artists who perform their walk-up songs, adding a unique and personal touch to the traditional baseball card.
Kosport Magazine’s Take: As avid collectors ourselves, we are thrilled to see Topps pushing the boundaries with their latest release. The inclusion of game-used relics from MLB’s City Connect jerseys and dual-autographed cards is truly innovative. It brings fans one step closer to their favorite players and creates a more interactive experience for collectors. Well done, Topps.
Improved Experience for Fans and Collectors
Clay Luraschi, senior vice president of product development at Fanatics Collectibles, believes that these new additions will enhance the overall experience for fans and collectors.
“The City Connect [cards] for example; for us to be able to put a jersey embedded into that card, or for a player to sign it, it just takes you one step closer to your hero,” said Luraschi in an interview with Kosport Magazine. ”That’s what we’re working hard on: Trying to improve the experience.”
In addition to the Signature Tunes cards, the 2024 Topps Series 2 also includes the Women in Baseball subset. This features prominent female figures in the game, including Olympic gold medalist Jessica Mendoza and the first woman to become a manager in professional baseball, Ronnie Gajownik.
Kosport Magazine’s Take: We applaud Topps for recognizing and honoring the important contributions of women in baseball. The Women in Baseball subset serves as a reminder that the game is for everyone and celebrates the strides made by these incredible women.
1989 Topps All-Star Baseball Relics
Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the iconic 1989 Topps All-Star Baseball set, this release features game-used memorabilia on the “All-Star” cards. Fans and collectors can now own a piece of history with these specially themed cards.
Kosport Magazine’s Take: The 1989 Topps All-Star Baseball set holds a special place in the hearts of many collectors. The addition of game-used relics in this release is a brilliant way to pay tribute to this classic set and gives fans a chance to own a piece of nostalgia.
