Dodgers Trade for Blue Jays’ Biggio – Wheeling in a Big Catch!

Sources: Dodgers Acquire Cavan Biggio in Trade with Blue Jays

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made another big move, acquiring utilityman Cavan Biggio in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, sources confirm to Kosport Magazine. The veteran infielder was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last week, making him available for the Dodgers to add to their roster.

In exchange for Biggio, the Blue Jays will receive right-handed reliever Braydon Fisher, who has split his time this season between Double-A and Triple-A.

Biggio, 29, is known for his versatility on the field, having played multiple positions for the Blue Jays, including second base, first base, third base, and right field. This adds even more depth to the Dodgers’ already talented roster, as they currently hold a comfortable 7 ½ game lead in the National League West.

Although Biggio struggled at the plate this season, hitting only .200 with two home runs in 131 plate appearances, he still brings a wealth of experience and potential to the Dodgers. And with players like Chris Taylor, Gavin Lux, and Kiké Hernández underperforming and the absence of third baseman Max Muncy due to injury, Biggio could bring a much-needed boost to the team’s offensive production.

Biggio made his debut in 2019 and quickly established himself as a valuable player for the Blue Jays, hitting 16 home runs in 100 games. His numbers dipped slightly in the shortened 2020 season due to injuries, but he still maintained an impressive .375 on-base percentage.

Unfortunately, injuries have hindered Biggio’s performance in recent years, causing him to lose playing time to younger players on the Blue Jays’ roster. But he still has one season of club control left and will be eligible for free agency after the 2025 season.

Kosport Magazine’s Take:
Although Biggio’s numbers may not jump off the page, this trade is a solid move for the Dodgers. Biggio brings valuable experience to a team that is already stacked with talent, and with one season of club control remaining, the Dodgers are making a smart investment for their future. This is yet another example of how the Dodgers are willing to do whatever it takes to stay on top in the league.
