The Toronto Blue Jays suffered a scare on Wednesday night as their promising pitcher Alek Manoah left the game against the Chicago White Sox with right elbow discomfort. This leaves fans and the team on edge as they await the results of his upcoming MRI on Thursday.

Kosport Magazine’s Take:

Manoah, who is 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA in five starts this season, has had struggles with his elbow before. However, he seemed to have bounced back after an impressive 2022 season where he made the AL All-Star team and finished third in AL Cy Young Award voting. It’s unfortunate to see him dealing with this issue again, but we have faith that he will work through it with the help of the training staff.

The injury is said to have occurred after his start in Detroit, but Manoah tried to work through it in the days leading up to Wednesday’s game. Despite throwing a bullpen a few days ago, he still felt discomfort and wasn’t able to compete at his highest level against the White Sox.

Manoah’s departure from the game came in the second inning, after throwing a 91.4 mph sinker to Dominic Fletcher for a ball. Manager John Schneider and an athletic trainer checked on him before making the decision to take him out of the game. It’s clear that Manoah’s well-being and long-term health were the top priority for the team.

“I trust that he’ll continue to help me through whatever comes up next,” Manoah said regarding the injury. It’s a tough situation for any athlete to be in, but Manoah’s faith and determination will surely see him through this challenge.
