Stepping Into the Spotlight: Moses Itauma’s Journey

Enjoying the Journey: The Rise of Heavyweight Contender Moses Itauma

Kosport Magazine – It is often said that if you truly love what you do, it won’t feel like work. For heavyweight contender Moses Itauma, this couldn’t be more true. The 19-year-old southpaw has quickly risen through the ranks with an undefeated record and a knack for knocking out his opponents.

Growing up in the sport, Itauma always felt at home in the ring. However, as his career gained momentum, he found himself in the spotlight with all the attention and scrutiny that comes with being a young heavyweight contender.

But instead of feeling overwhelmed, Itauma is embracing the journey and all that it entails. “I’m enjoying it,” he said. “I used to see boxing as just a job, but now I’m starting to truly enjoy it. I’m blessed to be in this position.”

Despite his young age, Itauma has already been featured on major cards and has proven to be comfortable on the big stage. He exudes the confidence and aura of a future champion, and while he may not be one to stir up controversy, he remains unfazed by the media and attention that comes with the sport.

Some may see his relaxed demeanor as a weakness, but for Itauma, it’s just who he is. “I just like boxing and don’t really take anything personal or to heart,” he said. “I just laugh when people take everything personal.”

This calm and cool attitude extends to his training as well. After leaving his previous gym, Itauma made the difficult decision to seek new opportunities and ended up training alongside the likes of heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua and British champion Fabio Wardley under coach Ben Davison.

“I love Al [Smith] and the Woldedge family, they’ve done so much for me,” Itauma shared. “But eventually, I settled on working with Ben. I couldn’t choose between them, so I had to sit down and really think about my decision.”

As he continues to rise in the ranks, Itauma’s next appearance will be on the undercard of the highly-anticipated Joe Joyce vs. Dereck Chisora fight on July 27th. With each fight, he is proving himself to be a formidable force in the heavyweight division, and his journey is just beginning.
