Boots Ennis Open to Devin Haney Challenge, But Is Dev Ready?

Boots Ennis Ready to Take on Devin Haney at Welterweight

Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, the undefeated IBF welterweight champion, has made it clear that he is open to a fight against Devin Haney at 147 pounds. In an interview with Kosport Magazine, Ennis expressed his willingness to take on Haney if he decides to move up in weight to challenge him.

However, it seems that Haney is more focused on easier targets and staying at 140 pounds for the next two years. This decision has been met with criticism, with some seeing it as a sign of fear on Haney’s part. Many believe that he would be overmatched against Ennis and other top welterweights like Eimantas Stanionis.

But promoter Eddie Hearn, who represents both Haney and Ennis, seems hesitant to make this fight happen. In a recent interview with Kosport Magazine, Hearn stated that Haney is “tiny” compared to Ennis and that he would prefer to keep their revenue streams separate.

This protective stance towards Haney is understandable, as he is already struggling to sell tickets and bring in pay-per-view buys. A loss to Ennis could permanently damage his popularity and marketability.

Ennis Sets His Sights on Welterweight Domination

Despite the potential roadblocks, Ennis remains determined to dominate the welterweight division. He sees fights against top names like Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. as his ultimate goal.

“I’m coming for them. Anybody that’s around that 147, 154, 160, 168, it doesn’t matter who it is,” Ennis confidently stated.

Hearn also sees Ennis as a potential threat in multiple weight classes, saying, “You’re talking about a guy that could easily go to 154 and easily go to 160.”

But before moving up in weight, Ennis plans to clean out the welterweight division and become the undisputed champion. He believes that a fight against Crawford in the next six to twelve months would be the biggest fight in boxing.

Kosport Magazine Exclusive: Boots Ennis vs Devin Haney?

In an exclusive interview with Kosport Magazine, Ennis revealed his desire to fight Haney and become the undisputed welterweight champion. He also expressed his confidence in beating Crawford and becoming the A-side in that potential matchup.

But with Hearn seemingly hesitant to make this fight happen, it remains to be seen if Ennis will get the opportunity to prove himself against Haney. For now, Ennis will continue to dominate at welterweight and make a name for himself as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
