Unbeaten Alejandro Paulino Set to Face Estivan Falcao in Lightweight Bout
Alejandro Paulino is not in a rush to reach the finish line of his pro career; he sees it more as a marathon than a sprint. The Dominican Republic native, who now calls New London, Connecticut home, will be facing Estivan Falcao in an eight-round lightweight bout on Saturday night at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
At the weigh-in, Paulino tipped the scales at 134 pounds while Falcao came in at 137 pounds. Paulino, with a record of 16-0 and 13 knockouts, is looking to continue his winning streak against Falcao, who has had mixed results against tough competition.
Manager Roland Estrada is confident that Falcao will provide a good test for Paulino at this stage of his pro career. “If Alejandro fights to his potential, I think he can stop Falcao,” Estrada said.
The 25-year-old Paulino has been keeping busy since turning pro in May 2021, fighting frequently to develop his skills and fulfill his passion for the sport. His last bout saw him defeat D’Angelo Keyes by unanimous decision, ending a streak of knockout victories.
Estrada emphasized the importance of gradual progress for Paulino, acknowledging that he is still relatively new to the professional boxing scene. With each fight, they aim to face tougher opponents and continue improving before taking the next step in his career.
On the other side, Falcao (13-3, 7 KOs) is coming off a loss to top prospect Ashton Sylve but has notable wins over Djamel Dahou and James Bernadin. The Brazilian fighter will be looking to bounce back against Paulino.
In addition to the main event, the CES Boxing card will feature a lightweight clash between Kevin Walsh (11-0, 5 KOs) of Brockton, Massachusetts, and Matt Doherty (9-8-1, 5 KOs) of Danvers, Massachusetts in an eight-round fight.
