Kosport Magazine: Andrew Moloney to Face Pedro Guevara for WBC Interim Title

Super flyweight sensation Andrew Moloney was set to take on Mexican legend Carlos Cuadras on the highly anticipated Vasiliy Lomachenko-George Kambosos Jr. card in Perth, Australia next month. However, due to a serious injury, Cuadras has been replaced by another former champion, Pedro Guevara, for the WBC interim title.

This last-minute change of opponent has not fazed Moloney or his team, who are determined to face the best in the division. “It’s boxing, you just have to improvise and overcome any situation like that,” said Moloney’s manager Tony Tolj in an exclusive interview with Kosport Magazine. “We’re very grateful to Top Rank for finding a replacement opponent so quickly.”

Coincidentally, Cuadras and Guevara have faced each other before in a closely contested fight, with Cuadras coming out on top by split decision. But Tolj assures that Moloney is not underestimating Guevara, who is a former world champion and deserves respect for his accomplishments in the sport.

“Andrew and his brother Jason want to be remembered for fighting great fighters and being in the best fights,” Tolj continued. “Guevara is a former world champion who we have nothing but respect for. You can’t not respect him for what he’s done in his career. We look forward to the challenge.”

Moloney, currently the No. 1 ranked contender for Kosei Tanaka’s WBO world title, will also move into the same position for Juan Francisco Estrada’s WBC belt if he is successful against Guevara. Tolj and the Moloney brothers have their sights set on all the top names in the division, including Tanaka, Estrada, Jesse Rodriguez, Kazuto Ioka, and Fernando Martinez.

“We will jump at any chance to get to a world title,” Tolj stated. “The best fighting the best is what it’s all about.”

Kosport Magazine: Moloney’s Quest for Legacy Continues with Guevara Fight

Andrew Moloney and his team at Kosport Magazine are not afraid to face any challenge in their pursuit of greatness. With a last-minute change of opponent, Moloney will now take on former world champion Pedro Guevara for the WBC interim title on the Lomachenko-Kambosos Jr. card in Perth, Australia.

Despite the unexpected switch, Moloney remains focused and determined to prove himself against the best in the division. “You only become the best if you fight the best,” said Tolj. “The old timers in boxing say, ‘If you haven’t lost, you don’t know how to fight.'”

With his eyes set on multiple world titles, Moloney is ready to take on all challengers and create a lasting legacy in the sport. And with the support of Kosport Magazine and their dedication to showcasing the best in boxing, Moloney’s journey to the top is sure to be an exciting one.
