Devin Haney: Focused on Greatness, Unbothered by Ryan Garcia’s Antics
Welcome to Kosport Magazine, your source for all things sports. Today, we bring you the latest news from the world of boxing, as WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney prepares to face off against Ryan Garcia on April 20th. In an open workout, Haney made it clear that he’s not bothered by Garcia’s behavior leading up to the fight. Let’s dive into the details.
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) looked strong and confident during the workout, despite still needing to shed some weight to make the 140-pound limit. But he’s not worried about the weight cut, as he feels he’s growing into the weight and getting stronger. In fact, he sees this fight as a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal of becoming a two-division undisputed champion.
But to achieve that, Haney will eventually have to move up to welterweight and junior middleweight, where he’ll face tougher competition like Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Terence Crawford. For now, he’s focused on Garcia, who he sees as just another opponent in his quest for greatness.
“Ryan is just another opponent for me. I feel like I’m in competition with greatness,” Haney said. “That’s why I train so hard and work so hard. Even if my opponent isn’t focused, I still put my all into getting better and better.”
And while Garcia’s behavior leading up to the fight has been questionable, Haney isn’t bothered by it. He sees it as just another part of the business and remains unfazed by whatever antics Garcia may bring to the table.
“I don’t think much of it. We don’t know if it’s antics or if it’s real,” Haney said. “I’m going to go in there and do what I do, no matter what Ryan shows up.”
With both fighters undefeated, this is shaping up to be an exciting and highly anticipated matchup. And Haney is confident that he will come out on top, no matter what version of Garcia shows up on fight night.
