Kosport Magazine: Fundora Suspended Until September Due to Broken Nose

It was a ‌bittersweet‌ victory⁢ for Sebastian Fundora as he emerged⁢ as the new WBO and WBC ‌junior middleweight titleholder after a surprise split decision win ⁢over Tim Tszyu in Las Vegas on ⁣Saturday. However, the celebration ⁤was short-lived as the Nevada State Athletic Commission informed Fundora on Tuesday that he is‍ physically suspended from fighting until late September ⁣due to a broken nose suffered ⁣during the first round of the fight.

This news comes as a blow to Fundora and his team, who were already in talks to negotiate a title defense against mandatory "super" challenger Terence Crawford. The WBO had given Fundora until April 25 to make the fight happen, with a requirement to defend against Crawford within six months of Saturday's fight with Tszyu.

However, the WBO's plans have now been compromised by the Nevada commission's decision. According to a WBO official, when a champion suffers an injury, they are required to submit a detailed medical report and recovery time period. The WBO will then determine the next course of action based on their regulations.

With Fundora's suspension lasting until late September, it is unlikely that he will even begin training until then. This means that he won't be able to fight again until December, throwing into chaos the plans of other potential opponents such as Tszyu and former welterweight champion Errol Spence, who had expressed interest in fighting Fundora next.

Kosport Magazine: Fundora’s Suspension Throws Plans into Chaos

Sebastian Fundora’s victory over Tim Tszyu may have earned him two world titles, but⁣ it also came with a price. The Nevada State Athletic Commission has suspended Fundora until late September due to a broken nose suffered during the‌ fight.

This means that Fundora will not be able to defend his titles until December, throwing a wrench in the plans of the WBO and other potential opponents. The WBO had ordered Fundora to defend against mandatory challenger Terence Crawford within six months, but with the suspension, it is unclear if this will still be possible.

Meanwhile, Tszyu and former welterweight champion Errol Spence, who had both expressed interest in fighting Fundora next, will have to wait even longer for their shot at the titles. This unexpected turn of events has thrown the division into chaos and leaves many questions unanswered.

But one thing is for sure, when Fundora does return to the ring, he will be eager to prove himself once again and defend his titles against the best in the division. Until then, we will have to wait and see how this situation unfolds.
