Kosport Magazine: Celtics’ Performance Compared to a Ferrari by Coach Mark Daigneault

On April 3, 2024, Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault made a bold comparison between the Boston Celtics’ performance and that of a Ferrari. And with their latest victory over the Thunder, it seems like the Celtics are living up to that comparison.

With the playoffs fast approaching, Boston’s win against Oklahoma City secured them the best record in the NBA and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. This marks their 14th 60-win season in franchise history, with the only other team to achieve this feat being the Lakers.

“We deserve it. I think it’s possibly going to matter if we follow through with the vision we have for ourselves,” said Celtics player Kristaps Porzingis, who had an impressive 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks in the game.

The Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum’s 24 points and Jaylen Brown’s 23 points and 7 rebounds, only trailed for 62 seconds in the game. Brown, who was questionable heading into the game with a sprained left hand, described it as a sprained ligament but assured that it won’t be a concern moving forward.

Boston coach Joe Mazzulla acknowledged the significance of achieving the best record in the NBA, but also emphasized the importance of not dwelling on it too much.

“It’s very hard to do. We may never be in this position again,” Mazzulla said. “We talked about it as a team. We talked about it before the game, to try to treat this game as the clincher. To kind of put that on ourselves to be able to do that. I think it was important for us to simulate that. … We should enjoy it tonight, and when we wake up tomorrow — nobody cares.”

The Celtics’ progression and consistency throughout the regular season have been impressive, with Brown stating, “We’re not skipping any steps. Sixty wins. I think we’re on track. When the playoffs start, it’s back to square one.”

Kosport Magazine: Celtics Secure Best Record in NBA with Win Against Thunder

The Boston Celtics continue to dominate the NBA with their 135-100 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 3, 2024. Led by Kristaps Porzingis’ 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks, the Celtics secured the best record in the league and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

Despite missing All-Star and leading scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder put up a fight with Josh Giddey leading the team with 17 points. However, their 14 turnovers and poor 5-of-24 shooting from beyond the arc were no match for the Celtics’ strong performance.

Boston’s coach Joe Mazzulla acknowledged the significance of achieving the best record in the NBA, but also emphasized the importance of not dwelling on it too much. With the playoffs fast approaching, the Celtics are focused on their ultimate goal of winning the championship.

As the regular season winds down, the Celtics are showing no signs of slowing down. With their impressive performance and consistency, they are definitely a team to watch out for in the playoffs.
