Kobe Bryant’s 2000 NBA Championship Ring Sells for Record-Breaking Price

It’s no secret that Kobe Bryant was one of the greatest basketball players of all time. And now, his legacy continues to live on even after his tragic passing in 2020. Recently, a piece of his history was sold for a record-breaking price at an auction held by Goldin, a collectibles marketplace.

The item in question? A ring from the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2000 NBA title, gifted by Kobe to his father, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant. The ring sold for an astounding $927,000, including buyer’s premium, making it the most ever paid for an NBA championship ring.

What makes this ring even more special is that it was the only time Kobe gifted his father with a championship ring. It is an identical copy of the one given to Kobe, with his name etched on one side and the same sizing, weight, and etchings.

The ring was originally consigned to Goldin in 2013 by Pam and Joe Bryant and sold for $173,000. However, this weekend’s sale saw the 2013 buyer consign the ring once again, along with a letter of authenticity from the Bryants.

While this may be a record-breaking price for an NBA championship ring, it is not the most ever paid for a sports championship ring. That title still belongs to the $2.09 million netted by Charlie Sheen for Babe Ruth’s 1927 World Series title ring.

Kobe’s Legacy Lives On

Kobe Bryant’s impact on the world of basketball and sports in general cannot be denied. His talent, determination, and drive inspired countless individuals, and his legacy continues to do so even after his passing.

This record-breaking sale of his 2000 NBA championship ring is just another testament to the impact he had on the game and the world. It serves as a reminder of his greatness and will forever be a cherished piece of history for any basketball fan.

As we continue to remember and honor Kobe Bryant, let us also celebrate his achievements and the impact he had on the world of sports. Rest in peace, Mamba.
